GRIIS (Geospatial Rural Infrastructure Information System), is a web-based GIS application containing customized modules to create and maintain information of rural assets. Data stored in centralized server can be accessed by public through web. Any department, which provides services in terms of rural infrastructure can fully utilize the computing power of this system for planning, monitoring and implementation of Rural Infrastructure related activities. The system also facilitates monitoring of physical and financial progress of any investment related to rural infrastructure.

GRIIS is a cross-browser, cross-platform web-based application that has been developed using Java and J2EE technology and Open source RDBMS. Solution is supported by a set of powerful customized query and analysis tools developed specifically for Panchayath Raj Engineering Department (PRED), Government of Karnataka. GRIIS

Baseline information:

Information derived from satellite images has been integrated with administrative boundaries to create seamless baseline information of Karnataka State.

Android based Mobile application:

was used to collect information on location, status and photograph of various rural infrastructure / assets (for selected districts). Facility to synchronize field data to server was implemented.

Implemented with appropriate access and authorization controls, Login controlled access, contained standard map tools such as PAN, Zoom-In, Zoom-Out, Asset information, Layer information, Legend etc. to ease map navigation

CMS (Campus Management System) is a Desktop and Web based GIS application that can ingest spatial and non spatial information of any campus and organize them as single repository to build analytical, monitoring and decision support system. CMS has a suite of customized web based GIS software modules with custom made query interface for online visualization, analysis and decision support.

CMS is a cross-browser, cross-platform web-based application that has been developed using Open source Desktop and web GIS software such as QGIS and Geo Server with Open Layers. Solution is supported by set of query and analysis tools configurable to cater the needs of any campus in terms of space, facilities and asset management.

Geometry of Roads and location of Cross Drainage works stored in spatial domain along with relevant attribute information arranged in web solution helps engineers in handling data effectively and facilitates efficient planning and monitoring.

WebRIS is a cross-browser, cross-platform web-based GIS application specially developed for Public works, Ports & Inland Water Transport Department, Government of Karnataka. The application has a set of powerful customized query and analysis tools.

Key Features
Spatial Database:

Geo database was created using maps available at department and by interpreting satellite image. Road data created was further validated in field by conducting GPS survey. During this survey, CD locations were mapped along with key information.

Google Earth Integration:

Implemented Google Earth plug-in module containing Google Earth tools, Layer Info, Add layer, Fly to, Window tool and Measurement tool

Has in built function with data input forms integrated with predefined business logic and access control for entire Karnataka State. It is focused on automation of processes involving proposal to successful completion of work taken up by any organization during particular financial year and creation of data repository for easy dissemination to various administrative / operational hierarchy.

Presently solution is being used by Karnataka Public Works Department, Water Resources Department, Cauvery Neeravari Nigama Limited and Directorate of Health and Family Welfare of Government of Karnataka.

Location of pothole and its management status stored in spatial domain along with relevant attribute information arranged in web solution help decision makers to understand status of each road and arrive at improvement plan.

PMTS is a cross-browser, cross-platform web-based GIS – GPS application developed specially for Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP), Government of Karnataka. It is a primary Decision Support &Management tool for effectively maintaining BBMP assets, namely Roads. This solution is also used as a ‘crowd sourcing tool’, wherein the citizen of Bangalore can upload potholes in their localities.

e-Pathai GIS is a cross-browser, cross-platform web-based application that has been developed on ESRI® ArcGIS® Server, Microsoft® Silverlight and Microsoft.NET Framework supported by a set of powerful customized query and analysis tools developed specifically for Tamil Nadu Highways Department(TNHD). It runs on all popular web browsers including Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome.

  • Bing Maps Integration: is a web mapping service provided as a part of Microsoft’s Bing suite of search engines and powered by the Bing Maps for Enterprise framework. The service is available in the application as a backdrop layer besides Open Series Maps of Survey of India. Bing aerial view overlays satellite imagery onto the map and highlights roads and major landmarks. Utilizing Bing services, it is possible to locate a point or address of interest and find the shortest route between two places by distance or travel time.
  • Bi-Lingual Interface: Websites and web applications in local language have become the order of the day. e-Pathai GIS has a bi-lingual interface allowing users to switch between Englishand Tamil language.
  • High-Resolution Map Printing: GIS analysis/maps can be printed and downloaded as high-quality PDF files in customized templates.
  • ROMDAS Video: e-Pathai GIS have ROMDAS videos of the road conditions and road assets integrated with it. The camera icon is visible only at locations where ROMDAS video is available.Clicking on the camera icon plays ROMDAS video for the selected location.
  • Vehicle Damage Factor (VDF) Tool: Vehicle Damage Factor (VDF) tool is provided to switch on the census stations having VDF information. On clicking the VDF tool, the census stations display the VDF icon on the map. Clicking on the VDF icon provides the relevant VDF information.
  • View elevation profile along a road: This is a handy tool to understand elevation or profile of the terrain lying adjacent to the road stretch. It is also possible to generate longitudinal profile along the user-defined alignment, which is useful for route planning.
